Born 1981 in Liverpool, UK, Anna Dalzell is a self-taught artist working primarily in acrylics. Currently based in the city of Chichester, West Sussex, where she works from her studio.
She has always loved being creative with art from a very young age. Anna paints landscapes and cityscapes, whether working on a large or small scale. She likes to bring out the character in her paintings and drawings of wildlife using her own style. Anna creates bold and vibrant pieces of work on canvas or paper which are inspired by the beauty of the natural world.
After graduating in 2003 with a Psychology degree from York University, Anna completed a BTEC Diploma in Fine Art at the Wirral Metropolitan College in Merseyside in 2005. She spent almost a year travelling in Australia (2005-2006). In 2009 she completed a City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Make-up Artistry and Special Effects at Liverpool Community College. In 2015 Anna started a painting course on the Wirral and since then she has enjoyed building her portfolio of work predominantly over the last 5 years. ArtByALCD was set up as a shop on Etsy in 2017.
“Art has always made me happy as I am a person who has a need to express myself creatively. I continue to challenge myself with every new piece of work that I produce. I love to learn from the process of creating different pieces of art and there is always something that surprises me. What I hope to achieve in my work is to make something which is perceived to be interesting to look at and is absorbing. I always try to inject positive emotion and energy into my art. I am most passionate about the use of colour, how it may be blended and particularly how attention to detail may be expressed uniquely in a piece of art. I am at my happiest when I find myself lost in deep concentration working on a new painting or drawing."
